 OUR NURSES

At Colorado Hematology your nurses will greet you with a smile and make sure your experience with us is welcome and friendly.  Most of our nurses have been with the practice 7 to 11 years and are very experienced and enjoy working with their patients. They take each patient on as a personal journey and are there to help in any way possible during this trying time. Our nurses are highly skilled and provide both medication and compassion throughout every phase of your treatment. Please never hesitate to ask a question or express a concern. Our nurses want to know if something is causing you a problem or troubling you. They want to put their experience to work for your benefit.

Nurse Experience and Expertise

Chemotherapy Certified

At Colorado Hematology our nurses are Chemotherapy certified.  Chemo certification is the class that our nurses take that teaches them about the chemo drugs that are given in our practice. They learn the properties, dangers as well as side effects that these drugs can cause. Our nurses have to pass a chemo certification class before they are allowed to hang chemo in our clinic.

Certification Makes a Difference

As well as Chemo Certified, our nurses are required to become Oncology Certified within two years of joining our practice. We feel that having Oncology nurses is very important to make sure that our patients have the highest level of care that can be offered.  Oncology Certification is an actual Board Exam that our nurses must pass to work in our clinic.

Certification in oncology nursing makes a difference - to the patients whose care is provided by oncology certified nurses, to employers who must staff their facilities with skilled and experienced cancer nurses, and to the individual nurse who attains the OCN®, CPON®, AOCN®, AOCNP® or AOCNS® credential.

What is Nursing Certification?
Nursing certification is the process by which a nongovernmental agency validates, based upon predetermined standards, an individual registered nurses qualifications and knowledge of practice in a defined functional or clinical area of nursing. One purpose of nursing certification is to assure the public that the nurse has completed all eligibility criteria to earn a specific credential. A second purpose is to promote the development of specialty areas of nursing by establishing minimum competency standards and recognizing those who have met the standards.

LABORATORY TECHNOLOGISTS

Testing is done in our laboratory utilizing state-of-the-art equipment. Specially trained lab personnel perform the tests, and the results can be discussed with your physician during your visit.
